Be honest with yourself and the business you contact about your riding abilities! Always better to be safe than sorry. Unless you book a private ride, there will be other riders and having someone not at the same level can slow the whole group down.
If it’s your first time riding outside of your lesson barn, start with a partial day ride! The experience of riding out in the open is very different (in a good way of course!) Also see if there are any options near home so you can get experience before traveling.
Don’t forget to tip your guides! Almost all vacations included on this site are small businesses.
When researching options, pay attention to reviews. You can use the search terms “experienced,” “canter,” and “gallop” on most review sites to target reviews from accomplished riders. Also watch out for bad reviews, as many times they can come from people who misrepresented their riding abilities.
Check with your country’s state department/equivalent before booking any travel! Especially with the pandemic you want to ensure where you are going is safe.
